WHAT IS REC SOCCER?

Recreational Soccer does not require trying out, merely signing up!

Every player who signs up within the registration period is guaranteed a spot on a team. Late registrants ARE NOT guaranteed placement on a team. For first-time registrants, a copy of the player’s birth certificate must accompany the registration form with full payment.

The primary focus at this level of play is fun, skill development, and teamwork development. No official scores are kept for matches and all players will play at least one-half of the game.

The standard fee will apply at $95.00. If your child NEEDS a new Jersey KIT (2 Jerseys, Socks) for the season additional charges will apply. EVERYONE WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A NEW JERSEY KIT STARTING FALL 2024!

Training will start the week of August 19th. Games will start on September 24th and run through November 2nd. These dates are subject to change based on weather or unexpected cancellations.

Team Formations:

6U and 8U teams will be split up evenly among age/sex and roster given out to coaches.

10U and above groups: we will hold assessments starting Fall 2024 for these age groups to help evenly distribute teams. This assessment will be held on Saturday, August 10th.

Game Locations:

Recreation games for 5U-10U teams will be played on Saturday mornings or weeknight evenings at the SASL Complex at Northview Optimist Park (3401 Hawkins Ave, Sanford) or the Lee County Fairgrounds (505 N 5th St, Sanford)

13U matches are played at either West Lee Middle School (3301 Wicker St, Sanford) or the Lee County Fairgrounds (505 N 5th St, Sanford)

15U and up age groups typically play in a travel recreation league on IN house at the San Lee FC Indoor Training Facility depending on number of players or local teams needing games as well. In the Rec travel league teams have matches against other county teams. Roughly half of the games will be located at the Sanford Fairgrounds or Lee County High School Practice Fields, and assuming there are available clubs with older teams, the other half will be played within an hour's drive.

Note: Pictures may be taken of your child/children over the course of the season for promotion of the Sanford Area Soccer League on our website and social media.
